The Keys of Being
By Carlos Warter, M.D., Ph.D. (1998) Who Do You Think You Are?
Twelve guiding rules will help us
shift into the joy of the moment.
1. Always look for the good in each person,
situation, or thing. It resides at the core level.
2. Resolutely turn your back on the past, be it good
or bad, and live only in the present and future.
3. Forgive all the world without exception, no
matter what they've done; then forgive yourself from the fullness of your
heart.
4. Consider your job, children, or daily studies as
something sacred. Know that you are a magnificent contribution. Your work is a
service, whatever it is, and your awareness will benefit yourself and all
others.
5. Do all that is in your power to manifest a
healthy body and a harmonious environment.
6. Be in the service of your being and that of your
neighbor. Be an instrument for divine energy and the lessons of truth, to be
taught in a discreet and knowing way.
7. Be aware of your speech. Practice silence.
Unconditionally avoid criticism. Do not listen to it or support it.
8. Dedicate at least fifteen minutes of your day to
meditation, inner work, spiritual exercise, and prayer.
9. Upon awakening, visualize the higher power of
your choice, and offer gratitude. Upon retiring, consciously forgive yourself
and others for any deviations from the path of heart.
10. Practice the Golden Rule. Do unto others as you
would have them do unto you. It is important to practice this no matter how
others treat you. Remember that this and all rules have their opposite, and as
such, do not let others do to you what you would not do to them.
11. Know that whatever you experience can be
transformed by way of prayer and meditation.
12.
Ask yourself when you awake, when you fall asleep, when you leave your house,
and whenever else it occurs to you, "Is my heart
open?"
